Lemont Township Opens for Cook County Assessor Appeals

The County Assessor’s Office will be accepting appeals for Lemont Township 2013 Assessed Values through June 10th.  If you feel that your assessed value is high compared to similar properties now is the time to file an appeal.    One can appeal in person at any of the Cook County Assessor’s Offices or on line at www.cookcountyassessor.com.  This user friendly site has search options for researching comparables.

If your appeal this year is value based only (no issue with property description) we are offering the option to send an email to assessor@lemonttownship.org.  We will research comparables and send them to you for use with your online appeal.  Also, one can contact the Lemont Township Assessor’s Office 1115 Warner Avenue at 630-257-2522 to schedule a personal appointment.  In addition to daily hours of 8:00 till 3:00 evening appointments at the Township Office are also available.

Lemont Township has chosen the utility company Energy.Me for an electrical Opt-In voluntary program.  This program will allow unincorporated Lemont households to save between $200 and $300 on their electricity bills each year ---a savings of about 30%.

Sign up at:  http://residential.energy.me/Web/Anon/Home.aspxResidents who purchase their electricity through this process will have the option to donate an extra dollar a month to either Cure Autism Now (CURE AUTISM NOW) or the local food pantries (LEMONT).

Lemont Township is the first township to provide an opt-in program for unincorporated residents.  Making the switch to an alternate supplier is a concept encouraged by ComEd as well as the Lemont Township Board.  There is no penalty for cancellation on this program.  The Township’s opt-in program does not affect anyone in the Village, but Village residents are able to sign up until the Village’s opt-in-in program begins.

Lemont Township is now one of many townships that are offering the new Coast2Coast Rx Discount Card.  The Coast2Coast Rx Card is a free discount prescription card provided to residents of townships, cities, counties and states.  The program includes participation by U.S. pharmacies to provide annual savings up to 55%.  Savings on a single prescription range from a few percent up to 75% (sometimes more) off the retail price of the drug. Cardholders save on both brand name and generic drugs.  All members of a family can use the card.  It is always FREE and the card can be used immediately.  There is no age, income or other exclusions. There are no forms to fill out.  Simply take the card to one of the 59,000+ participating pharmacies to start saving today.

Cardholders and their families can save up to 60% on their dental needs; an average of 10% to 50% on their vision needs and 35% on their hearing needs.
